Andrea Garza — Visual Artist, Lighter and Compositor

My name is Andrea Garza and I’m an artist living and working on the traditional and unceded territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh nations (Vancouver, BC). I specialize in 2D Harmony compositing and currently work as a compositor at Wildbrain Studios. I also love working with backgrounds and environments, improving my skills in 3D lighting and compositing, and doing personal illustration work. I love making art that tells stories that are both important and fun, and love working with people who want to do the same.

About Me

I currently work as a 2D compositing artist at Wildbrain Studios. I previously worked at Bardel Entertainment as a 2D Compositor on Rick and Morty and other properties.

I am an artist and storyteller, and while I haven’t always wanted to do art and animation professionally, I have always wanted to tell stories. I grew up wanting to be a writer and spending my free time writing short stories, but as I got older I became more drawn to a multimedia, visual approach to storytelling which animation does so well.

I was born in Mexico, but grew up in South Florida, and attended boarding school in India for three years in high school. Then in 2014, I moved to Vancouver to attend the University of British Columbia. I got my Bachelor’s degree in English Literature, and graduated in 2018.

After that, I began pursuing art more seriously, and began attending Vancouver Film School in the Classical Animation program in August 2019. I completed the program at the end of August 2020.

My goal is to bring the skills I have as a writer and storyteller into my career in the animation industry, and I’m always excited about being able to tell fun, important, and engaging stories for a living.
